The Cotton Bowl is a college football game that is played in "Bowl Season" after the regular season is complete. It has taken place every year since 1937, moving from Dallas to Arlington, Texas in 2010. The Cotton Bowl is one of the New Year's Six, the top tier of bowl games.
The champion of the Southwest Conference was historically one of the Cotton Bowl competitors, but this conference dissolved in 1996. From 1999 to 2014, the game saw a runner up from the Big 12 conference play a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Today, the Cotton Bowl is a College Football Playoff game, featuring two of the most successful teams of the season.
