Connecticut Sun, also known simply as the Sun, are a professional women's basketball team based in Chicago, Illinois. The Sun take part in the Eastern Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association and they play their home games at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Connecticut Sun History
The Sun were founded in 1999 as Orlando Miracle, sister team to the NBA's Orlando Magic. They relocated to Connecticut in 2003 after being purchased by the Native American Mohegan tribe, and were renamed the Sun as an homage to the Mohegan Sun casino.
The move quickly bore success as the Sun earned Eastern Conference titles in 2004 and 2005, but they lost the WNBA Finals on both occasions.
More recently, they reached the WNBA Finals again in 2019 and 2022, but once again the Sun failed to come out on top.
