Visiting Santiago
Santiago is a progressive capital city sprawled across the central valley between the snow-capped Andes and the Chilean Coastal Range. The mountains form a picturesque backdrop to every viewpoint in the city, especially when the Gran Torre Santiago, the tallest skyscraper in South America, is in the foreground. In the winter, Santiago is a covetable base from which to go skiing, and in the summer, locals and visitors alike stroll through its nearby vineyards, which produce some of the world’s most famous wines. Central Santiago is a magical mix of history and modernity, and art and business. The cosmopolitan streets in the west offer contemporary art and entertainment hotspots amongst cosmopolitan high-rise buildings, while the streets in the east offer cool bohemian enclaves amongst grand neoclassical mansions.
