Chelsea Women are a professional women's football team based in London, England. They play their home games at Kingsmeadow, as well as select fixtures at Stamford Bridge, home of their male counterparts.
📜 Chelsea Women History
The Blues were founded in 1992, known then as Chelsea Ladies. A team of the same name had played and won silverware in the 1970s but were unable to survive long-term.
Although it was not until 2004 that the women's team became officially affiliated with Chelsea's men's team, they were formed with approval from the club by Blues fan Tony Farmer, who petitioned Chelsea to start a women's team and was subsequently installed as its first manager.
Chelsea's men's side, via their Football in the Community department, took over the women's club and began funding them in 2004.
In the years since, the Blues have become a force to be reckoned with in English women's football, particularly following the arrival of manager Emma Hayes and the team becoming fully professional in 2012 and 2015, respectively, with multiple Women's Super League, Women's FA Cup, and Women's League Cup titles to their name.
