Real Club Celta de Vigo - often known as Celta de Vigo, Celta Vigo, or simply Celta - is a Spanish professional football club based in Vigo in Galicia and currently playing in the country's top tier La Liga. The club plays home games at Balaídos.
Founded in August 1923, the club was formed as a merger of Real Vigo Sporting and Real Club Fortuna de Vigo due to both clubs and the region as a whole wanting to achieve more success. This success did come in the club's early years and in the 1990s and 2000s, they were even known as "EuroCelta" due to their strength in Europe, reaching the latter stages of the UEFA Cup several times. However, they had a downfall as the 2000s continued and dropped into the Segunda División, fighting to stay above the third division to avoid bankruptcy. In recent years, Celta Vigo has made it back into La Liga and started to see more success.
