Caroline Garcia is a French professional tennis player, born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a suburb of Paris, in 1993.
Garcia played many sports growing up, but tennis was her favourite, and she soon embarked on a promising junior career, reaching the junior final of the US Open, and the junior semifinals of the other 3 Grand Slams.
Garcia's first senior main-draw appearance also came at a Grand Slam, when she entered the 2011 Australian Open as a wild card. An impressive appearance in the first and second rounds of Roland-Garros followed that season, and by the end of the year she had broken into the WTA top-150. The Frenchwoman continued to progress: in 2014 she won her first WTA singles title, and by the end of the season she was ranked inside the top-40.
In 2016, Garcia added to her trophy cabinet, collecting the Roland-Garros women's singles title alongside compatriot Kristina Mladenovic. The pair also reached the US Open women's singles final in the same year. The following year, Garcia reached the quarterfinals of the Roland-Garros singles draw, and the fourth round of Wimbledon, her best singles performances at both Grand Slams.
Garcia reached her peak career singles ranking of 4 in 2018, with her fourth round streaks at both the Australian Open and Roland-Garros contributing to her impressive ranking. In 2019, Garcia and Mladenovic paired-up again, this time at the Fed Cup, where they defeated Australians Ashleigh Barty and Samantha Stosur in the final and helped France to its third title.
Throughout 2021, Garcia struggled for consistency, and her ranking fell to almost 75th in the world, but the 2022 season demonstrated her excellent ability and impressive mental strength: Garcia won the Roland-Garros women's doubles title with Mladenovic for a second time, reached the fourth round of the Wimbledon singles draw, defeated then-world number 1 Iga Świątek, won the Western & Southern Open as a qualifier, reached the semifinals of the US Open singles, and climbed back into the WTA top-10. Her stellar season earned her a qualifying spot for the year-end WTA Finals, which she won, with a victory over Aryna Sabalenka.
Caroline Garcia plays from the baseline, predominantly relying on her strong groundstrokes and potent serve. In part due to her doubles pedigree, she is comfortable at the net, but lots of her winners usually come from forehand or backhand groundstrokes taken from further back, instead of volleys, as she tends to play in those areas of the court more in singles matches.

THE ACTUAL EVENT WAS GREAT, HOWEVER THERE WAS ONE LARGE DRAWBACK THIS YEAR FOR US. THE SEATING AND SPACE ALLOWED FOR PEOPLE AND THEIR NEEDS WAS EXYTREMELY POOR THIS TIME. THE SEATS WERE OLD AND NOT COMFORTABLE AND IT APPEARS THE ALLOCATION OF SEATS WAS TO MUCH FOR THE SPACE PEOPLE NEEDED. LAST YEAR (SAME LOCATION) THE SEATING / SPACE WERE MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE.
1. Seats are extremely uncomfortable in the north and south stands. Most people were forced to stand up between games to give their behinds a break from the hard chairs. My sister and I brought seat cushion with us after the first day’s experience, and that helped somewhat.
2. During the first part of the week, the PA system was appalling. It was impossible to hear the winners’ courtside interviews after the matches, or any announcements. The music that was played in the breaks was so distorted that it was very unpleasant. This was somewhat rectified by the end of the week, but it should have been fixed before the end of the first day.
3. Ticketmaster is a terrible app to book tickets on. Every session has to be booked and paid for as a separate booking. There was no way to book several sessions and pay for them altogether.
4. The tennis was fantastic! Loved all the matches we saw.
Great experience
Adelaide International - Semi Finals Day was a great day for the tennis - we attended the day session court side and the evening in the South Stand but in both areas the seating is a little uncomfortable and the catering needs some improvement.
I sat in the disabled section. Good view, space to put walking stick & aids. Easy access within venue eg small distance between lift and seating.
On my arrival, the attendent had no idea where to locate me. She suggested I go to the Western end of the North stand where there were fixed seats! I pointed out that the seats would have to be moved to fit in a wheel chair! She really did not want to be helpful. I politely stayed until It was sorted. All was well in the end.
