From culture to shopping, nightlife and entertainment, Downtown Edmonton offers everything one could want from a city break. As well as shops, restaurants, and bars, the area is home to the city’s best museums and cultural landmarks like the Alberta Legislature Building.
As brilliant as Downtown’s shopping and entertainment is though, it doesn’t compare to the West Edmonton Mall. Fortunately, there are hotels within and around the mall itself so that its amusement park, aquarium, and cinema can be at your beck and call.
Foodies will find themselves at home in affordable Old Strathcona, a hip and happening locale just south of Downtown filled with cool cafes, alternative eateries, and of course, a farmer’s market. Its theatres and indie shops also attract artsy crowds.
Popular neighbourhoods like Ritchie and Pembina in Northwest and Southeast Edmonton are ideal for budget travellers who would prefer to save their pennies by staying out of the city centre, and those that would just prefer a quieter atmosphere.
With the light rail network operating throughout all city neighbourhoods, it’s easy to explore the city whether you stay in the centre or the outskirts.
