The Bears are the football team of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. They compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) of the NCAA and play in the Ivy League.

Brown first fielded a football team in 1878, making it one of the oldest college football programs.
Although the Bears have never won a national title, they are renowned for the Iron Men team of 1926, who went undefeated all season and won each of their 3 Ivy League games. The Iron Men drew with Colgate in the final game of the season, ending their streak of 9 victories.
Brown won its first Ivy League title in 1976 and have claimed the conference several times since then.
