Bristol Rovers are a professional football team based in Bristol, England. Also known as the Pirates, their home ground is the Memorial Stadium.
📜 Bristol Rovers History
Rovers were founded in 1883 as Black Arabs FC. Their name was derived from a local rugby team and their predominantly black kits. They changed it after just one season to Eastville Rovers; in 1897 they became Bristol Eastville Rovers, and 2 years later they settled on their current moniker.
The Pirates joined the Football League in 1920 and have spent the following century bouncing up and down the divisions, although they've never reached the top flight.
Rovers reached the Football League Trophy final in 1990 and 2007, but failed to win the final on both occasions.
