The Brisbane Lions is an Australian rules football club which competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Brisbane Lions' home colours are maroon, blue, and gold, and their kits usually feature the club's eponymous lion, which is also found on its official emblem.
📜 Brisbane Lions History
The club was formed in 1996, as the result of a merger between 2 pre-existing teams, the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions. The Brisbane Lions currently play home matches at The Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground).
Despite only being formed in the late 1990's, the team found success quickly, reaching 4 Premiership grand finals in a row between 2001 and 2004, the first 3 of which they won. Whilst the club has not reached the grand final again since 2004, it recorded 2 consecutive second-placed finishes between 2019 and 2020, and regularly appear in the play-off finals at the end of the season. Despite being a "newer" AFL side which incorporates the sporting heritage of 2 previously separate sides, the Brisbane Lions is considered a well-supported team.
