Stade Brestois 29 - more commonly shortened simply to Brest - is a French professional football club based in Brest, Brittany and currently playing in the country's top tier Ligue 1. The club plays home games at Stade Francis-Le Blé.
There are many reports of how and when the club was founded with some suggesting it was in 1903 as Armoricaine de Brest, many stating that it was in June 1950 as Stade Brestois, and others feeling the date should be as recent as 1982 when it was known as Brest Armorique FC. In recent decades, the club has consistently played in the top 2 divisions of the French football system and Brest's peak period was through the 1980s to the early 1990s.
