📜 Bradford City AFC History
Bradford City were founded in 1903; they had started life in 1880 as a rugby club known as Manningham FC, but the team decided to switch codes to association football and the Bantams were born.
The club were immediately installed in Division Two and gained promotion to the top flight just 4 years later. Shortly after, in 1911, Bradford won the biggest honour in their history, the FA Cup.
The Bantams spent much of the post-war years in the third or fourth tiers of English football, but they ended a 77-year absence from the top flight in 1999, albeit their stay in the Premier League lasted just 2 seasons.
In 2013 Bradford had the chance to win their second major honour when they overcame the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa to reach the League Cup final – the first time a club in the fourth tier had made it to the final since Rochdale in 1962 – but they were defeated 5-0 by Swansea City.
