Boys Like Girls, sometimes abbreviated to BLG, are a pop rock band from Andover, Massachusetts, United States. Blending pop rock, pop punk, emo pop and alternative rock, they emerged from the mid‑2000s online scene to become one of the era’s most recognisable radio acts.
Formed in 2005 by singer‑guitarist Martin Johnson with John Keefe, Bryan Donahue and Paul DiGiovanni, the group broke through with their 2006 debut album "Boys Like Girls", powered by the singles "The Great Escape", "Hero/Heroine" and "Thunder". Its success led to extensive touring, including Warped Tour slots and headline runs.
Their second album "Love Drunk" (2009) delivered the hit title track and the duet "Two Is Better Than One" with Taylor Swift, which earned a BMI award and cemented their mainstream profile. They shifted towards a glossier, country‑tinged pop sound on 2012’s "Crazy World" before entering a lengthy hiatus.
After anniversary tours and side projects, Boys Like Girls returned in 2023 with the single "Blood and Sugar" and their fourth studio album "Sunday at Foxwoods", followed by global touring into the mid‑2020s.
