Upscale Ixelles, meanwhile, awaits to show families a more quiet and quaint side of Brussels. The leafy streets lead you to elegant boutiques, fancy restaurants, and the beautiful Bois de la Cambre park.

Although Brussels City Centre is populated with the city’s biggest attractions, it really only shows one side to the city. With fantastic train links throughout the inner city to rely on, why not branch out and stay in one of its alternative neighbourhoods?

About King Baudouin Stadium

King Baudouin Stadium is a multi-purpose sports venue in north-west Brussels. The stadium opened in 1930 under the name Jubilee Stadium, marking Belgium's 100-year anniversary. The venue was a popular international football (soccer) venue and hosted a number of European Cup finals between 1950s-1980s. However, the now aged facilities contributed to the tragic loss of 39 people in 1985, and in 1995 the stadium was completely rebuilt and renamed King Baudouin Stadium after the Belgian monarch who had died 2 years earlier.

The rebuilt stadium marked a second chapter for international football at the venue including the opening game of Euro 2000. King Baudouin Stadium is also host to the Diamond League Memorial Van Damme annual athletics event, as well as the occasional rugby, tennis, and music concerts.

King Baudouin Stadium is part of a complex that includes the famous Atomium, the Brussels Expo, and is located close to Parc d’Osseghem. This means that there are quite a few eating and drinking options in the immediate surroundings of the stadium.
