The Belfast Giants - known officially as the Stena Line Belfast Giants - are a professional ice hockey team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They compete in the UK's top hockey league, the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and play their home games at the SSE Arena. Since they were formed in 2000, the Giants have won many major honours, including British league championships, British playoff titles, and Challenge Cups. They are considered a very successful club in the UK system. The Giants have put in place a number of policies - such as a ban on football colours and flags showing political or religious belief, and not playing the UK national anthem before games as is traditional in the EIHL - to ensure sectarianism is not an issue at games and these have been successful as the Giants have built a large and enthusiastic fanbase which has become known as the "Teal Army".
