The bears are the football team of Baylor University in Waco, Texas. They compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the NCAA and play in the Big 12 Conference.
Baylor claims 10 conference titles, the most recent coming in 2021 when the Bears defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big 12 Championship game. Baylor has been part of the Big 12 since 1996, with previous spells in the Southwest Conference and as an Independent team. The Bears have won 3 Big 12 titles and 7 Southwest titles.
Despite several candidates in the program's history, Baylor saw its first Heisman Trophy win in 2011 when QB Robert Griffin III took home the award. Bryce Petty was nominated twice during his time at the college, in 2013 and 2014, but did not make the top 5 either time.
The Bears play their home games at McLane Stadium, an on-campus venue opened in 2014. Before that, Baylor played 64 seasons at Floyd Casey Stadium, an off-campus stadium about 4 miles from the campus.
