Bay Football Club, commonly known as Bay FC, is a women’s professional football club based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with home matches played at PayPal Park in San Jose, United States. The club competes in the National Women’s Soccer League, the top tier of women’s football in the country.
Founded in 2023, Bay FC was established through a partnership between investment firm Sixth Street and four former United States women’s national team players: Brandi Chastain, Aly Wagner, Danielle Slaton and Leslie Osborne. It became the first professional women’s side in the region since earlier Bay Area teams in now-defunct leagues.
Bay FC began NWSL play in 2024 and quickly drew attention for significant investment in facilities and player recruitment, strengthening the profile of women’s football in Northern California. Under inaugural head coach Albertin Montoya, the team quickly became competitive and contributed to record league attendances before entering a new organisational phase after his planned departure following the 2025 season.
