Barrow were founded in 1901. They became one of the founding members of the Football League Third Division North 20 years later, and in 1958 they were among the founding members of the Fourth Division.
The club's 51-year stay in the EFL was brought to an end in 1972 when they were voted out of the Fourth Division to be replaced by Hereford United.
It was almost another 50 years, in 2020 that Barrow finally returned to the Football League.
