The Barracuda Championship is a professional men's golf tournament, co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. Inaugurated in 1999 under the name Reno-Tahoe Open, this tournament was originally played at Montreux Golf and Country Club, near Reno, Nevada. In 2020, it was moved to the Old Greenwood Course at Tahoe Mountain Club in Truckee, California.
The Barracuda Championship is a unique event on the PGA Tour, in that it has been contested in the Modified Stableford format since 2012. This format – in which players earn points based on how they score on each hole – encourages risk-taking and aggressive play, which makes for a thrilling contest like no other.
In 2024, Nick Dunlap – who won The American Express back in January – made history as the first player in PGA Tour history to win events in the same year as both an amateur and a professional as he racked up 49 points, just 1 shy of the tournament record.
