The Australian PGA Championship is a professional menβs golf tournament. The event β known then as the Australian Professional Championship β was formalised in 1929, although professional competitions had been held as part of the annual Australian Golf Union meeting since 1904.
Since 2000 it has been held each year in the South East Queensland region and it has been co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour since 2015, which has further increased its profile around the world.
The winner receives the prestigious Kirkwood Cup, the oldest trophy in Australian professional golf.
The reigning champion is Elvis Smylie, who finished 2 strokes clear of Cameron Smith β in pursuit of his 4th title in this competition β in the 2024 edition.
