The Australian Open is a professional golf tournament, the flagship tournament of the PGA Tour of Australasia. It was founded in 1904, making it Australia's most historic and prestigious golf tournament, with players engaging in a thrilling battle to win the Stonehaven Cup or the Patricia Bridges Bowl.
In 2022, the event debuted on the DP World Tour as a co-sanctioned event and also adopted a unique new format by combining the men's, women's, and disabled competitions into a single event; men and women compete in parallel competitions for an equal split of the USD $3.4 million prize purse. From 2025, the event returned to a men's competition, with a women's tournament split into a separate event.
Ryggs Johnston – at the time ranked world no. 954 – pulled off a stunning upset as he won the men's competition in 2024 by 3 strokes ahead of Australia's own Curtis Luck, while Jiyai Shin denied Ashleigh Buhai a 3rd consecutive women's title as she finished 2 shots better than the South African. South Korean Simon Seungmin Lee claimed victory in the All Abilities event.
