Wheelchair Rugby League Australia, the country's governing body for the sport, introduced domestic seasonal events in 2010, with the goal of propelling wheelchair rugby league beyond its status as a demonstration sport. The initiative - coupled with the country's long-standing appetite for rugby league and wheelchair rugby in general - was a success for players, officials, and fans alike. Today, the "Wheelaroos" are one of the best teams around: they are 1 of only 3 teams to have competed at all World Cups, and in 2008 they finished as runners-up. Australia's wheelchair rugby league team will therefore be looking to make its mark at Rugby League World Cup 2021!
