The Governors are the football team of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. They compete in the Football Championship Subdivision of the NCAA and play in the ASUN Conference.
The team's membership of the ASUN Conference is very new, as the Governors competed in the Ohio Valley Conference from 2007 to 2021. Prior to that, Austin Peay had spells as an independent team, and an earlier period of membership in the Ohio Valley Conference between 1963 and 1996.
