Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio - more commonly known as Atalanta BC or simply Atalanta - is an Italian professional football club currently playing in the country's top tier Serie A and based in Bergamo, Lombardy. Atalanta plays home games at Gewiss Stadium.
Founded in 1907 by students from the Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi, the club is well-known for its impressive youth academy which has produced many top talents such as Gaetano Scirea. In Atalanta's history, they have played as low as Serie C (during the early 1980s), but they have spent a good deal of time in Serie A finishing as high as 3rd place.
