Key Fixtures
Bayern Munich vs. Manchester United, 20 September
Among the most thrilling clashes of the opening round of group stage fixtures will be Manchester United’s trip to Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena on 20 September.
Both teams will expect to progress from Group A, but they’ll both be coveting top spot to secure a more favourable draw in the last 16, so their head-to-head meetings could be crucial in this regard.
Bayern have enjoyed a typically strong start to the season, buoyed by new arrival Harry Kane, who has hit the ground running in the Bundesliga:
Manchester United will be acutely aware of the danger posed by the former Tottenham Hotspur striker, but whether they can stop him will be another matter!
Newcastle United v Paris Saint-Germain, 4 October
Champions League football will be returning to St. James’ Park for the first time in 20 years on 4 October, and Newcastle United could scarcely have asked for a more difficult fixture as Kylian Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain come to town.
The Parisians are arguably their strongest opponents in a stacked group that also includes Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, but after their run to 4th place and the Carabao Cup final last season, the Magpies have been riding on the crest of a wave and will hope to cause some upsets in Group F.
One thing is for certain: the atmosphere at St. James’ Park will be truly unmissable!
