The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is a beach volleyball competition consisting of events throughout the year held across the globe and replaces the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
The competition will be held at 3 levels: Elite16, Challenge, and Futures. The Elite16 format is the highest level and will feature the top 16 male and female teams. The Challenge level tournament is a feeder to the Elite16 level events and includes 24 teams, with players battling to earn ranking points. Futures is a feeder event to Challenge and allows cities to develop the sport in their countries. The Beach Pro Tour culminates in The Finals.
On Monday, Volleyball World announced the calendar for the first season of the new format kicking off in March 2022 with Mexico hosting a Challenge event from 10-13 March. The inaugural Elite16 event will be held in Rio de Janeiro from 17-20 March. From 7-19 June, Rome will proudly host the Beach Volleyball World Championships fitting into the middle of the Beach Pro Tour. More details and cities are to be released soon!
The Pro Tour will feature the best players in the world and bring the beach lifestyle to fans by combining volleyball with entertainment that unites music, food, and the beach lifestyle out of which the sport was grown. Fans will look forward to seeing spectacular skills from top-ranking players such as Qatar’s Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse in the men’s competition. Let’s not forget Brazil’s Ágatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda ''Duda'' Santos Lisboa in the women’s competition, though after 5 years and 23 medals won, they’ll be playing with different partners as of next year.
