World-class pool action is returning to England this spring as the UK Open hits the Telford International Centre. Taking place between 7–12 May, the tournament’s third edition is set to be its most exciting yet as a field of 256, including the top 128 nineball professionals, battle it out for the coveted trophy and a share of £200,000.
Introduced in 2022, the UK Open has already provided its fair share of memorable performances, thrilling duels, and shocking upsets. In the competition’s inaugural year, German superstar Joshua Filler surged to victory with a 13–7 win in the Final against Francisco Sanchez Ruiz. However, in 2023, Filler was not so fortunate. Drawn against former world number 1 Eklent Kaçi, Filler found himself up against an inspired performance from the Albanian that saw Kaçi race to 13–4 for the upset and his first Matchroom title.

"I felt focused and I stayed calm. I played the right shots with no crazy efforts and played safe when I needed to,” Kaçi said after the match, before promising there was much more to come. "I feel I will be a bigger problem in Matchroom events now.”
Kaçi and Filler will headline a huge host of star names when the UK Open returns this year, with the USA’s Shane Van Boening, Chinese Taipei’s Ko Ping Chung, Britain’s Jayson Shaw, and Spain’s Francisco Sanchez Ruiz all set to take part. As the first major of the season, the tournament will kick off a packed schedule of nineball pool in 2024 that will culminate with the 31st edition of the Mosconi Cup in December.
Admission for this year’s UK Open is on sale now, with day tickets starting at £20, weekend tickets at £50, and season passes, providing entry for all 6 days of action, available from £125.
