We’re at the business end of the season now with both the Champions League and the Europa League down to the final 8 teams. With only the elite sides remaining, the draws have thrown up some thrilling head-to-heads including Real Madrid vs Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain vs Barcelona.
Here’s the complete schedule for the Champions League quarterfinals, all of which will kick off at 20:00 BST and 21:00 CEST:
UEFA Champions League Schedule
Tuesday 9 April
- Arsenal vs Bayern Munich 1st Leg
- Real Madrid vs Manchester City 1st Leg
Wednesday 10 April
- Paris Saint-Germain vs Barcelona 1st Leg
- Atletico Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund 1st Leg
Tuesday 16 April
- Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid 2nd Leg
- Barcelona vs Paris Saint-Germain 2nd Leg
Wednesday 17 April
- Bayern Munich vs Arsenal 2nd Leg
- Manchester City vs Real Madrid 2nd Leg
All 4 quarterfinals are standout ties, but perhaps the most attention-grabbing is PSG’s clash with Barcelona. The pair played out one of the most memorable Champions League ties of all time when they met in the round of 16 in 2017; after the Parisians dispatched the Catalans 4-0 in the opening leg it looked to be over as a contest, but Barca staged an incredible comeback to win the second leg 6-1 to triumph in the most dramatic fashion. So remarkable was it, the second leg earned its own nickname: “La Remontada” (the comeback).
Meanwhile, defending champions Man City taking on Champions League specialists Real Madrid also promises to be a special contest. The duo met in the semifinals last season, with the English side progressing on their way to winning the competition. Los Blancos are flying high atop La Liga this season in part thanks to England star Jude Bellingham, who has also contributed an impressive 4 goals and 4 assists in his 6 Champions League appearances this season.
Although there are no easy ties at this stage of the competition, Arsenal likely would have preferred not to have drawn Bayern Munich as they make their first quarterfinal appearance in the Champions League since 2010:
Bayern now boast England captain Harry Kane within their ranks, and he’s enjoyed an outstanding campaign with 37 goals and 12 assists to his name in all competitions. The former Tottenham Hotspur man is no stranger to facing the Gunners either; in the Premier League era no player has scored more than Kane’s record 14 goals in North London Derbies.
Ticket prices will vary from club to club, and for some matches a paid membership will be required to purchase tickets from the clubs, although resale may also be available. To find out more information about all the Champions League ties and further ticket information, click here.
In the Europa League, an all-Italian clash between AC Milan and AS Roma is among the intriguing draws:
UEFA Europa League Schedule
Thursday 11 April
- Liverpool vs Atalanta 1st Leg
- Benfica vs Marseille 1st Leg
- AC Milan vs AS Roma 1st Leg
- Bayer Leverkusen vs West Ham United 1st Leg
Thursday 18 April
- AS Roma vs AC Milan 2nd Leg
- Marseille vs Benfica 2nd Leg
- West Ham United vs Bayer Leverkusen 2nd Leg
- Atalanta vs Liverpool 2nd Leg
Liverpool will be hoping to sign off manager Jurgen Klopp’s reign with another European trophy after the German announced he would be stepping down this summer, and they’ll be thankful to have avoided some of the more illustrious teams in this draw. Meanwhile, West Ham face the unenviable prospect of taking on Bayer Leverkusen. Xabi Alonso’s side are 10 points clear atop the Bundesliga, having scored 66 goals and conceded just 18 in their 26 league matches so far this season.
