There is no time of year more exciting for wrestling fans than WrestleMania Season, and the lead-up to WrestleMania 38 has not disappointed. With less than 3 weeks to go until WWE’s “Show of Shows” returns to Arlington's AT&T Stadium, the mega card of matches set to wow a crowd of more than 100,000 on 2–3 April is finally starting to take shape.
One of the most hotly anticipated bouts now confirmed for WrestleMania will see UFC legend, and former Raw Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey take on Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s title. After shocking fans with her return to the company (and subsequent victory) at the Royal Rumble in January, the "Baddest Woman on the Planet" will face “The Queen” in what is likely to be Rousey's toughest match in a WWE ring to date.
Elsewhere, in line with its reputation as a star-studded “Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment”, WrestleMania will see a number of stars less familiar with the squared circle take to the ring in Texas. Jackass favourite Johnny Knoxville, former NFL punter Pat McAfee, and even YouTuber Logan Paul will be lacing up their boots for matches. Paul, who has a 0–1 professional boxing record, will no doubt be hoping his Rock Bottom is better than his right hook.
Though celebrity cameos will add an extra Hollywood sparkle to proceedings at WrestleMania 38, WWE has not forgotten its core audience of wrestling fanatics. For instance, nothing will be more pleasing to long-time fans than the news that, after accepting a challenge from Kevin Owens, Stone Cold Steve Austin will be making a rare appearance at the event. A WWE Hall of Famer, and one of the most popular wrestlers of all-time, the “Texas Rattlesnake” will be backed by legions of fellow Texans when he confronts Owens in the Lone Star State.
Finally, with such a high-profile card of matches taking place across 2 nights in one of the USA’s largest stadiums, WWE had its work cut out booking a suitable finale for WrestleMania 38, but in Roman Reigns v Brock Lesnar, the company found it. Universal Champion for more than 550 days, Reigns, known as the “Head of the Table”, has dominated his competition for over a year now, but at WrestleMania 38, fans will find out if he has met his match in “The Beast Incarnate”, Brock Lesnar. Tasked with closing the show on Sunday 3 April, the 2 heavyweights will headline an unprecedented weekend of action when they come face-to-face in a winner-takes-all championship unification bout.
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and this year’s WrestleMania will be no different. More extravagant with each passing year, the event’s history, star power, and unique atmosphere ensure it continues to defy the boundaries of both sport and live entertainment.
This year, for just $35, fans can enjoy WrestleMania Saturday, as well as the opportunity to say “I was there” for a lifetime. For those with more Texas-sized yearnings, exclusive WWE travel packages start from $725 per person. Perhaps best of all though, for $165, fans who don’t want to miss a single sleeper hold or superkick can secure a combo ticket for WrestleMania 38, granting them entry for both nights of what is sure to be an unforgettable weekend.
