Following the Tradition, the Senior PGA Championship, and the US Senior Open, the Senior Players Championship is the penultimate men’s major on the senior golf calendar before the Senior Open Championship. Established in 1983, its current home is the South course of Firestone Country Club, located in Akron, Ohio. It began its life in Ohio, spending its first 4 years at Canterbury Golf Club, and returned to the state in 2019 after stints in Florida, Michigan, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, among others.
The man to beat will be former Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup captain Steve Stricker. The 57-year-old has been a dominant force in this competition in recent years, winning it in 2021 and 2023, either side of a runner-up finish in 2022. He won by 3 strokes ahead of David Toms in last year’s event – his 3rd major title in 2023 after winning The Tradition and the Senior PGA Championship, and his 7th senior major overall.
General admission Grounds tickets for this event start at just USD $10, while Firestone Country Club Clubhouse access is available from $30. For more information on the event and its tickets, click here.
