With just 2 months remaining of the campaign, title races, relegation battles, and European qualification fights are all neatly coming to a head across Europe’s top leagues. Not only is it the most tense and exciting period of the season, but it also means that fans are running out of opportunities to see their teams live.
The Premier League is locked into a thrilling 3-way title race with just 3 points separating Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City. City are pursuing an historic 4th consecutive league title, which has never been achieved in English top-flight football, while a victory for Liverpool would see them equal Manchester United’s record of 20 titles – the perfect send-off for manager Jurgen Klopp, who will be stepping down this summer. As for Arsenal, it has been 20 years since they last lifted the Premier League title back in 2004, so they’re desperate to end their drought.
With the race for top spot so close, it may even go down to the final day; Manchester City will be playing a West Ham United side bidding for another season of European football, A rsenal will host an Everton side battling tooth and nail for survival, and Liverpool will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield for Klopp’s last league game in charge.
Behind them, Manchester United will be attempting to claw their way into the top 4 and guarantee themselves a place in next season’s new-look UEFA Champions League. They face some key home games along the way, including visits from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle United.
If you’re a fan of Italian football – or just want an excuse for a city break in the coming weeks – then AC Milan have some huge games coming up. On 11 April they take on compatriots Roma in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semifinal; the Rossoneri are one of European football’s most decorated sides having won 7 European Cups/Champions Leagues, but they’ve not tasted continental glory since 2007. On 22 April, they’ll face a very different task as they take on archrivals Inter Milan in the Derby della Madonnina; Inter are shoo-ins to win the Serie A title this season barring a remarkable collapse, but the Rossoneri can at least spoil their party slightly if they can come out on top.
