After dealing with so much disruption over the last couple of years as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the ATP and WTA professional tennis tours are well and truly back on track. Most events are being held as normal, and player fields are back to their full complement. There are however still a few tournaments, particularly in the East Asian swing, which will not be held this calendar year. When one door closes, though, another door opens: enter, the San Diego Opens.
Scheduled as single-year replacement events for 2022, the ATP 250 San Diego Open and WTA 500 San Diego Open will take place between 17-25 September and 8-16 October respectively, at the city’s Barnes Tennis Center. Technically, neither event is a true one-off – the men’s ATP event was also held last year in place of other cancelled tournaments, and the women’s WTA event draws on the prestigious lineage of the Southern California Open – but they are far from established fixtures of the tennis calendar. Both tournaments therefore present a rare opportunity to enjoy top-class tennis in what is nicknamed “America’s finest city” - perhaps the last chance in several years!

Stadium Court day tickets for both tournaments start from just USD $20 during the qualifying days, with main draw tickets starting from $40, in the General Admission sections. Grounds Passes are also available: prices start at $25 at the ATP event, and $20 at the WTA event. Tickets behind the North Baseline, meanwhile, include a range of hospitality perks, making them perfect for fans who want to add a bit of glitz and glamour to their Golden State experience. Whichever ticket type you choose, make sure you’re there for one or both of the San Diego Opens – they're here for a good time, not a long time!
