The Horse of the Year Show (known as HOYS) is one of the biggest events in the equestrian calendar and is held annually at Birmingham's NEC Arena. In 2023, the event will take place from 4-8 October.
Inaugurated in 1949 by Captain Tom Collings, the event was always designed to mark a special end to the equestrian season. It has a perfect balance of show classes open to horses and ponies that have qualified by winning prizes at major shows during the season. Indeed, the event prides itself on having something for everyone including equestrian entertainment, stunning shows, competitive classes, delicious dining options, and super shopping selections. The 5 days of thrilling competition emphasise spell-binding horsemanship.
As a major event, the action takes place in different halls of the NEC. From Wednesday to Friday, spectators can purchase a Gold ticket which offers admission to the Andrews Bowen International Arena and the TopSpec Arena so that you can see all of the action on each day. On Saturday and Sunday, you can either purchase a daytime (action in the Andrews Bowen International Arena and TopSpec Arena) or an evening (action in the Andrews Bowen International Arena) ticket. On the Sunday, you can also purchase a ticket to cover both daytime and evening admission.
There are even some fantastic hospitality packages on sale for the Champions Bar which has panoramic views and a cash bar! Tickets for the Champions Bar start at GBP £96, but standard admission starts at just £38.55.
The schedule for the event is jam-packed with competitions and entertainment on each day. Classes can start as early as 07:00 in the morning and the action can finish as late as 22:55.
