First held in 1898, the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships is the oldest badminton competition in the world, and for many fans of the sport it is the most prestigious event on the circuit. The All England is staged as part of the BWF’s Super 1000 level tour, the highest regular tier of competition, and so every year it hosts some of the very best players from around the world.
The next edition of the All England will take place between 16-20 March 2022, and will once again be hosted at Utilita Arena Birmingham, its home since 1994. The arena is a highly popular venue, located on the city centre’s famous canals, and up to 5 courts at once will be used to showcase the world class field. The tournament itself is split across the 5 classic badminton draws: men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.
With so much top-quality badminton on offer, it’s no surprise the All England is such a popular event, and now tickets are now on sale fans can start securing their seats for one of the fastest, most furious racket sport events out there!
Tickets are available per day or session, across 4 seating categories, A, B, C, and D. Category A seats have the best views but are the most expensive, whilst Category D tickets are the most affordable. Prices for an adult start from only £7.50 a session in Category D, and there are also plenty of discounts available too – under 17s, over 65s, and students are all eligible for cut-price tickets!
As well as daily and sessional tickets, there are also discounted pack tickets. Spectators can help themselves to a Season Ticket, which includes access to every minute of the All England, or a Weekend Ticket, which allows you to see the climactic final rounds of the tournament. Both packages are better value for money than buying the individual tickets separately, and really allow you to follow the drama through the rounds and into the finals! Prices start from £76.50, for an adult Weekend Ticket in Category C seating.
There is also a good range of hospitality options available at this year’s All England. For fans who want to get a bite to eat whilst they watch the action unfold, the Premium Lunch Package or Breakfast of Champions Package are great choices. The Premium Lunch Package, exclusively available on semifinals day, Saturday 19 March, includes a 2-course lunch and a complimentary glass of Champagne; meanwhile the Breakfast of Champions Package is exclusively available on finals day, Sunday 20 March, and includes a gourmet breakfast and a Champagne reception! Both packages cost £166 for a full day’s badminton, and also include a range of hospitality perks, including a Q&A with a badminton legend!
Alternatively, fans who are simply keen to get the best seat in the house may wish to check out the Amplify Show Lounge. The Lounge itself is located above the standard seating areas, and the Amplify Show Lounge ticket includes access to a private hospitality bar. This option is available on the final 3 days of the tournament, and prices start from £57.
