Inaugurated in the 2021 season, the thrilling UCI Track Champions League is organised by cycling's global governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Eurosports Events. It was designed to reinvent track cycling and create an innovative format to engage fans across the world.
The top riders qualify from the UCI Track World Championships to compete across 5 rounds of the Track Champions League – battling it out for every point - to determine who are the world’s best sprint and endurance riders. The action unfolds across a fast-paced schedule of gripping competitions to find out who really is the best of the best.
Fans of the sport will know the 2023 venues well with many of them having hosted UCI Track Champions League events in previous years. The list of hosts and dates is as follows:
- Round 1 – Palma Arena, Palma, Spain (21 October 2023)
- Round 2 – Velodrom, Berlin, Germany (28 October 2023)
- Round 3 – Vélodrome de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Montigny-le-Bretonneux, France (4 November 2023)
- Round 4 – Lee Valley VeloPark, London, UK (10 November 2023)
- Round 5 – Lee Valley VeloPark, London, UK (11 November 2023)
Tickets are currently on sale for Round 3 and Round 4 & 5. Vélodrome de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines will be the host of the Olympic track cycling at Paris 2024, and with tickets starting from just EUR €25, the event on 4 November is the perfect opportunity to experience the venue before the greatest show on Earth comes to town next summer. Lee Valley VeloPark was of course the host of track cycling at the 2012 London Olympic Games and the venue will once again host the breathtaking final 2 rounds of the Track Champions League competition with tickets starting at GBP £27. Tickets for Round 1 and Round 2 will be released soon.
Keen cycling fans and newcomers to the sport have much to look forward to in the coming months starting with the UCI World Championships which, this year, will be held in Scotland as part of a multi-discipline event where various cycling disciplines will hold their world championships in and around the city of Glasgow from 3-13 August 2023. The track cycling will take place at the impressive Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
