The Braves are the football team of Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi. They compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) of the NCAA and play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
📜 Alcorn State Braves Football History
Alcorn first fielded a football team in 1921, competing for 14 years as an independent school. In 1935, the Braves joined the South Central Athletic Conference, where they remained until 1962.
In 1962, Alcorn moved to the SWAC, where they have won numerous conference titles. The Braves have also been named black college national champions 5 times, most recently in 2014.
More than 50 former Braves have gone on to play in the NFL.
Alcorn play their home games at Casem-Spinks Stadium.
