Featuring Nils Landgren – trombone la festa musicale Anne Marie Harer – conductor Programme Works originally by Agostino Steffani, Francesco Venturini and Georg Friedrich Handel Description With this programme, the orchestra la festa musicale leaves the familiar shores of Baroque music and explores uncharted territory. Together with internationally acclaimed jazz trombonist Nils Landgren, the musicians build bridges between genres. Compositions by Hanoverian court music directors Steffani, Handel and Venturini form the core and starting point of the programme: dance suites and concertos are performed by la festa musicale in their original form, opera arias in instrumental versions, and together they provide a springboard for improvisations between styles. At times, Nils Landgren blends into the historical sounds with a Baroque trombone; at others, he inspires the “old musicians” to create something entirely new. Baroque music composed on the Leine is thus “let off the leash”! What can audiences expect from this evening? Nils Landgren explores the ancestry of his trombone, la festa musicale experiments with a musical rejuvenation treatment for wild Baroque curls, and the audience enjoys a wonderfully entertaining evening! An event organised by Forum Agostino Steffani e.V. in cooperation with Herrenhausen Barock.
