As the spine of the city, Riverwalk is the best place from which to explore its top attractions including San Antonio Museum of Art and the Spanish colonial missions. Lined with top restaurants, bars, shops, you can step out of your hotel and straight into the action of this exciting street.
Those on a budget might prefer to stay in the surrounding Downtown neighbourhoods. Whilst being just a short walk away from all the excitement of Riverwalk you can also benefit from the nightlife and entertainment the rest of the district has to offer too.
The best nightlife scene, however, is claimed by Southtown, located just a few blocks south of Riverwalk. From sultry speakeasies to popping clubs, this trendy neighbourhood has everything a night owl could ask for.
Pearl, an industrial urban revival neighbourhood near Brackenridge Park, is considered San Antonio’s hipster haven. Expect to find all things alternative in this cool location from independent breweries to vegan eateries, as well as a rustic farmer’s market (of course).
For families that want to take advantage of San Antonio’s exciting amusement parks, stay in Northwest, a few kilometres outside of Downtown. While the area itself is tranquil, it’s just minutes away from the excitement of some of Texas’ best roller coasters and water slides.
As many of San Antonio’s highlights are walkable, or accessible by trolley, it’s easy to explore from any inner city neighbourhood.
