First-time visitors and keen sightseers will be well-positioned in El Centro, the commercial heart of El Paso. Not only is it bursting with shopping, dining, and nightlife options, it’s also rich with cultural attractions such as the El Paso Museum of Art.

El Paso is a university city and most of its students and graduates like to hang out in Union Plaza, the city’s hipster hotspot. From markets to indie clothing stores, and cool cafes, it has everything that’s considered cool and quirky.

As El Paso’s entertainment district, Union Plaza offers top-notch restaurants and bars. However, the area is rivaled by Mesa Street. A few kilometres outside the city centre, Mesa Street offers foodies and night owls a unique mix of brewpubs, grills, taquerias, and cocktail bars. You name it it’s got it.

Kern Place is a quieter and calmer neighbourhood in between El Centro and Mesa Street from which you can easily explore Franklin Mountains State Park.

While most of central El Paso is very walkable, there are buses and taxis available for areas that feel a little out of reach on foot.
