Many visitors opt to stay in the lively centre, within easy walking distance of major tourist attractions, eateries, shops, and nightlife. The vibrant downtown areas around Congress Avenue and the Convention Center contain a good selection of hotels. More options can be found further north, around the University of Texas campus. 

SoCo, the area south of Colorado River via Congress Avenue Bridge, is an atmospheric, laid-back neighbourhood. Its trendy restaurants, independent boutiques, and numerous hotels make it a popular base for visitors.

The city’s hip east side offers mid-range boutique hotels, alongside artisan shops, galleries, and an eclectic mix of bars and restaurants. 

West of the city, towards Texas’ verdant hill country, you can find deluxe spa retreats and substantial lakeside resorts, many with extensive onsite facilities.
