For the best of Jackson’s shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife, stay in Downtown Jackson. Of course, the district is central to many of the city’s biggest attractions too, including the state capitol buildings.
While Downtown is Jackson’s commercial centre, Fondren is its bohemian arts and culture centre. Fondren is where you can explore the renowned ‘Sylum Heights arts district, shop at quirky independent stores, and watch many of the city’s coolest music, art, and theatrical events.
Although Belhaven is just a few moments from Downtown Jackson, it exudes a peaceful family atmosphere. It may be largely residential, but this historic district also has its fair share of pubs and restaurants.
Pearl and Ridgeland are two smaller cities just a 10 minute drive from Downtown Jackson which offer much more affordable accommodation. Home to the Outlets of Mississippi, Pearl is popular with shoppers, whereas Ridgeland is more popular with nature-lovers because it’s close to the trails of The Barnett Reservoir.
A free shuttle will take you around the main streets of Jackson to all of its cultural and commercial highlights, but those travelling further afield may want to rent a car.
