Downtown DC and the neighbouring Penn Quarter are the go-to districts for shopping, dining, and entertainment within the city. The best stores, restaurants, and venues, including the infamous Ford’s Theatre are located here, as well as the Capital One Arena.

At night, Downtown, the Penn Quarter, and neighbouring quarters Dupont and Foggy Bottom (yes, really), come alive as the dive bars and dance clubs fill up, guaranteeing DC’s best nights out.

While most of DC emanates a conservative business vibe, H Street Corridor and the Near Northeast is all about the arts and culture. The student-centric area is where you’ll find cool flea markets, artisanal eateries, and quirky independent bars. As Washington Union Station is located here, it is also ideal for those prioritising transport.

Families may enjoy Georgetown, the historic yet upscale neighbourhood immediately west of Downtown. Although some of the city’s best boutiques, restaurants, and bars are found along its cobblestone streets, it maintains a neighbourly residential charm.

Most of Washington DC’s inner-city neighbourhoods surround the National Mall, meaning it’s easy to walk to the majority of the city’s landmarks, museums, and memorials. For those exploring from further afield, there’s a fast and convenient metro service running throughout the city.
