Cheltenham is a relatively small town, and so those that want to fully experience it will be best situated in the town centre where the best shopping, dining, and nightlife can be found.

However, the town’s Cheltenham Spa train station is located a few kilometres southwest of the centre, which is the ideal area to stay if you are interested in exploring further afield.

Cheltenham is relatively quiet and subdued, so if you’re looking for something a bit more lively, why not stay in Gloucester, its sister city? Not only does it offer a vibrant drinking and dining scene, but it is also just 10 minutes away from Cheltenham by train.

Alternatively, experience quintessential England by staying in or around one of Cheltenham’s nearby Cotswolds villages like Winchcombe, Stow-on-the-Wold, or Moreton-in-Marsh. Of course, these areas have limited access to public transport, and so they often require a car to get around.
