Traditional Family Day is an exciting flat racing fixture for thoroughbred horses and is held at Ripon Racecourse in Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK.

The single-day meeting celebrates family fun in the beautiful atmosphere of "Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse". The raceday is all about rolling back the years with traditional family entertainment such as magic shows, bouncy castles, balloon modelling, and so much more. Gather your friends and family for a spectacular day at the races where there's thrilling racing action on offer as well as an array of enjoyable entertainment!

At Ripon Racecourse there are several enclosures to choose from. Enclosures have varying dress code restrictions, access levels, and ticket price brackets. Racegoers purchase a ticket for a full day of racing with access to one of the following:

Club Enclosure - the premium enclosure at Ripon offering access to the Club Stand with the best views over the course and across the Parade Ring and Winner's Enclosure
Paddock Enclosure - offering access to most areas of the racecourse with great bars, eateries, and betting facilities
Course Enclosure - situated in the centre of the course, this is the perfect place for families with the range of fun entertainment offering something for racegoers of all ages

Subject to availability and restrictions, tickets can be upgraded on the day.

Ticket Options

🧒 Child Tickets

All racegoers aged 17 and younger are admitted free of charge to all fixtures at Ripon Racecourse when accompanied by an adult. They do not require a ticket.

👨‍🎓 Student Tickets

There are no discounted tickets for students and so a full-price ticket must be purchased.

🧓 Senior Tickets

There are discounted tickets available in some areas of the racecourse for racegoers over the age of 60.

👨‍🦽 Disabled Tickets

Ripon Racecourse has tried to ensure the venue is as accessible as possible by providing several accessible viewing areas:

Club Enclosure - there is a lift allowing access to both the 1st and 2nd floor with further viewing points reserved to disabled customers; guidance to viewing point can be obtained from staff
Paddock Enclosure - there is complete disabled access as the enclosure is completely flat. There is a disabled raised viewing point located in the paddock area near the finishing posts
Course Enclosure - an open grassed enclosure and provides the ease of parking your car a few yards away. There is a sloped area providing great viewing options for all but it is mainly comprised of flat land which ensures accessibility

Venue Travel & Parking

Due to the rural location of the venue and the parking available on arrival, Ripon Racecourse is most easily reached by car. There are also shuttle buses that collect/drop racegoers off from the centre of Ripon, and from the bus station here, you can reach areas further afield across the country.

🅿️ Parking

Ripon is most easily accessed by the A1 (M). Traffic does build up around the entrance in the lead-up to the first race so it is advisable to arrive in plenty of time.

There are 2 entrances into the racecourse for cars:

Main FREE Car Park - giving access to the Club or Paddock Enclosure and also the Course if you are planning on walking into the centre at a price per person
Cars on Course - allows you to drive into the centre of the racecourse at a price per car carrying up to 4 adults

There is a limited number of disabled parking spaces on-site so it is advisable to arrive early to ensure guaranteeing a space. The ground is level from parking through to both the Paddock and Club ticket gates.
