The Maccabees, an English indie rock band from London, were formed in 2004. Known for their energetic performances and distinctive sound, they quickly gained popularity in the UK's indie music scene. The band's debut album, Colour It In, released in 2007, showcased their unique style and included hits like 'First Love' and 'About Your Dress'.
Their follow-up albums, Wall of Arms and Given to the Wild, marked further success, with the latter earning a Mercury Prize nomination. The band was praised for their introspective lyrics and musical evolution over time. Their final album, Marks to Prove It, topped the UK Albums Chart in 2015.
Despite their success, The Maccabees announced their split in 2016 and performed a series of farewell shows in 2017. As of 2024, the band announced they were reuniting.
