The Real Casino de Murcia is a historic members’ social club and cultural event venue on Calle Trapería in the centre of Murcia, Spain, close to the cathedral. Its rooms are used for cultural activities, concerts, talks, exhibitions, social gatherings, private functions and business events; it also hosts activities including billiards and chess.
The institution was founded in June 1847, initially occupying the house of the Count of Campo Hermoso. Its permanent premises were inaugurated in 1853 and enlarged and remodelled over the following decades. The building combines a range of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century styles, notably its Arab courtyard, Pompeian courtyard and richly decorated ballroom. Works completed in 1902 created its Trapería Street frontage. Declared a national historic-artistic monument in 1983, it is now protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural and remains one of Murcia’s best-known architectural landmarks.
