The Canadian Open is a professional men's golf tournament co-organised by Golf Canada and the PGA Tour – the only national championship managed by the latter. It debuted in 1904, and it is currently the 3rd oldest continuously running tournament on the PGA Tour, after The Open Championship and the US Open.
For much of the prestigious event's history, it has been considered by some to be an unofficial major. It has twice been part of a golfing Triple Crown of winning the Canadian Open, US Open, and The Open Championship in the same season, a feat accomplished only by Lee Trevino in 1971 and Tiger Woods in 2000. It was further part of PGA Tour history in 2009 when Mark Calcavecchia birdied a record 9 consecutive holes.
