The Stadium Series is one of the series of regular season outdoor games played in the National Hockey League (NHL) generally held in a football or baseball stadium in an area with a resident NHL team.
The first Stadium Series was held in 2014 and it was formatted like a short "series" consisting of 7 teams participating in 4 games held in 3 venues. Over the years the format has changed and, since 2017, there has only been 1 game per year. The event is similar to the NHL's other 2 outdoor games – the NHL Winter Classic (played on or around New Year's Day) and NHL Heritage Classic (played in Canada) – in that it generally takes place in a football or baseball stadium and the game counts towards the regular season scoring; however, the Stadium Series is always held in the United States either late January, February, or early March, and normally features teams from the United States.
In 2025, the Columbus Blue Jackets will play their first-ever outdoor game as they take on the Detroit Red Wings at Ohio Stadium.
NHL Stadium Series Tickets
Seating at Ohio Stadium is separated into different decks each with differing views of the action. Seats situated along the sidelines and closer to the floor are typically more expensive than those on the ends and further from the action. Seating areas are as follows:
- AA Deck - these seats are almost on the field level, offering a unique experience
- A Deck - on the lower level of the stadium with great, close-up views of the field
- B Deck - behind A Deck seating, these seats offer elevated views and proximity to the field
- C Deck - the Upper Deck of the stadium
- D Deck - the Upper Deck on the west side of the stadium (behind C Deck seating) is almost totally covered with bleacher-style seats
- Box Seats - a comfortable and intimate viewing experience, with chairback seats, coverage from the elements, and just 2 rows in each box
- Club (CL1-CL5) - some of the most expensive seats with the best views across the middle of the field located on the same level as the A Deck, on the west side of the stadium, these tickets offer incredible views as well as access to the Stadium Club
