The Moselle Open is a tennis tournament tied to France and yet enjoyed by all. The competition shares its name with the river and eponymous area of Lorraine in which its host city of Metz is located, and is staged annually in the city’s principal indoor venue, Les Arènes de Metz.
Just like the ancient city of Metz itself, the Moselle Open is steeped in French history – since it was first staged in 2003 it has had a French winner in all but 8 years, with French runners-up at 3 of those editions. The Moselle Open is still an international affair, however: although the majority French crowd is sure to cheer on its hometown heroes, strong fields of players from around the world descend on “The Green City” every year to fight for the Open’s suitably green trophy!
