Florida Gators Football vs Georgia Bulldogs Football Matchup

One of the most historic and heated rivalries in college football, the Florida-Georgia annual matchup is a huge attraction for fans all over the southeast – and beyond. These SEC titans met for the first time in the early 20th century, although the exact date is disputed. Georgia counts 1904 as its inaugural win over Florida, but the Gators maintain that 1915 was the first meeting involving the modern University of Florida.

The Georgia Bulldogs enjoyed a long spell of dominance in the early years of the rivalry, winning the first 7 games between the teams (or 6 if you exclude the controversial 1904 game). Florida recorded a first win in 1928, and followed it up with a second just a year later.

The Gators began their own dominant period in the early 1950s, winning 10 of 12 games between 1952 and 1963. Georgia was the stronger team in the 1970s, before Florida took charge of the rivalry again throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
